Could someone please tell me what Google apps is?

I need to know.|||Basically, Google Apps are office applications that businesses can use which are a lot cheaper than the traditional office software (like Microsoft Word) because they run over the Web instead of having to be installed in the hard drives of each computer in the office. Google Apps includes Google Docs, which anyone with a Google account can use instead of Microsoft Office.
